Great benefits benefit EVERYONE.

Are benefits necessary, burdensome, or both? After all, bennies often are the second-biggest expense a company has (payroll being the first).

Benefits might feel like an obligation, but they’re so much more than that. They’re a chance to show your employees how much you care about them.

Benefits are your biggest chance to put your money where your mouth is.

Most benefits revolve around health and wellness. Health insurance, mental health support, gym memberships, childcare stipends and employee meals collectively signal that you care about your employee’s emotional and physical needs, beyond what their paycheck can cover.

Benefits are also your way of telling your employees, “We’re in this together.”

Sharing a health insurance pool with a cohort of colleagues is a gesture of solidarity. It says, “Your health matters to all of us.”

Reimbursing gym memberships, yoga classes or running gear tells employees, “Your wellbeing is important, and we encourage you to embrace the physical activities that bring you joy.”

Providing mental health resources sends a clear message: “Your mind and emotions deserve care and support, just as much as your physical health.”

Employees receive these messages loud and clear. The more supportive and generous your benefits, the more loyalty and goodwill you’ll build with your team.

Benefits send a strong message to employees about how you feel about them. And skeletal bennies send just as clear a message as robust ones.

Make sure you’re sending the message you want to send.
